Ashley Jones, Cleveland Criminal Defense Attorney
Who are you?
My name is Ashley Jones and I am the founder of Ashley Jones Law. I was raised in a small town in Ohio, and after law school, decided to make Cleveland my home.
Why did you become a lawyer?
I am not sure at the time I understood that it fueled my desire to become a lawyer, but I have come to realize I cannot stand bullies. So much of the law is bullying and individuals who find themselves accused of a crime need an advocate to stand up on their behalf.
Where did you go to school?
I graduated from Ohio University and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
Why did you start Ashley Jones Law?
I started Ashley Jones Law because I wanted to represent individuals accused of crimes and this was the quickest way to do it. I did not want to simply write a motion for another lawyer who then got to go to court and represent the client. I wanted to get in a court room quickly, and I wanted my own clients where I could make the decisions.
What do you like to do when you are not being a lawyer?
I am a big reader, so I am often curled up with a book at home. My husband and I have a two-year old daughter and try to find fun trips and activities to do as a family. We love exploring the Cleveland Metroparks.
What sets you apart from other lawyers?
Persistence and compassion. My husband often says I am like a dog with a bone if there is something I want, or an issue about which I care deeply. I try to couple that with compassion for my clients and everyone involved in a case.
Ashley L. Jones is a graduate of Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where she focused her classes and activities on criminal law. Ms. Jones took criminal law during her first year of law school and from that moment on, she knew that criminal law was her calling, the reason she had gone to law school, her way to help people. Ms. Jones continued to take criminal law classes, soaking up as much knowledge as she could, and also was a criminal law teaching assistant for two years.
Ms. Jones was a law clerk in two criminal defense law firms during her time in law school, and that exposure taught her the practical experience of running a law firm. But Ms. Jones wanted to do everything she could to learn the art of being a trial lawyer, so she sought a spot on Cleveland Marshall’s Competition Mock Trial Team, gaining a spot and becoming a two year veteran member. During these two years, Ms. Jones traveled in and out of the state of Ohio to present cases to mock juries. Two years of these competitions gave Ms. Jones real life trial skills and knowledge so that when her first case in her own law practice went to trial, she didn’t blink an eye, and judgment was for her client.
Ms. Jones has fully immersed herself in Cleveland’s legal community. Her community involvement includes:
- Past trustee of Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, West Shore Bar Association, and Ohio Women’s Bar Foundation.
- Past Chair of the Solo/Small Firm Section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
- Currently serving as a trustee of the Cleveland Marshall Law Alumni Association and serving as their incoming Treasurer.
- Current co-chair of the criminal law section of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
- Active member Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
At the end of the day, Ms. Jones is concerned with ensuring that rights are protected and that justice is administered fairly and appropriately.
Ms. Jones prides herself on being available to speak with you personally. She is in your corner, fighting for you every step of the way, and treating you with dignity and integrity along the way. Call today to discuss any legal issues you have.
